About BizFormPro
What BizFormPro is
BizFormPro is a free, independent calculator and information resource for US business formation. We compute the costs (filing fees, annual reports, franchise taxes, registered agent fees) of forming an LLC, S-Corp, or C-Corp across all 50 states and DC. We also publish educational guides on entity selection, state comparison, registered agent services, and ongoing compliance.
The calculator uses publicly-available state filing fee data updated annually. We don't require accounts, don't collect personal information, and don't store any of your inputs.
What BizFormPro is not
BizFormPro is not a law firm, accounting firm, registered agent service, or business formation service. We don't file documents for you, draft your operating agreement, prepare your tax returns, or serve as your registered agent. We are an information publisher in the same category as Nolo, the LegalZoom education blog, and Investopedia's business sections.
The information on this site is general, not specific to your situation. We don't know your business plan, your tax situation, your ownership structure, your industry, or your jurisdiction-specific considerations. For decisions that depend on these factors — and most business formation decisions do — consult a business attorney and a CPA licensed in your state.
Why we built this
Business formation marketing is notoriously misleading. Major formation services advertise "$0 LLC formation" while charging hundreds in upsells, registered agent fees, and compliance products. State-specific costs are buried in obscure government pages. Comparing Delaware vs Wyoming vs your home state requires research most people don't have time for.
BizFormPro exists to make the actual numbers transparent. The state-filing-fee landscape is complicated but the math isn't. We show all the costs — initial filing, registered agent (first year and renewal), EIN, operating agreement, and the annual compliance fees that most calculators omit — so you can make informed decisions.
How we calculate
Our cost data comes from:
- State filing fees: Direct from each state's Secretary of State website
- Annual report fees: Direct from state government sources
- Franchise taxes: Where applicable (Delaware, California, Texas, Tennessee, etc.)
- Registered agent costs: Public pricing from major services (Northwest, LegalZoom, IncFile, ZenBusiness, Inc Authority)
- Federal filings: IRS EIN (free), BOI reporting under the Corporate Transparency Act (where applicable)
We update fees annually as states publish new schedules, typically in Q1 of each year. Reader reports of inaccuracies are reviewed within 7 days.
How we monetize
BizFormPro receives no payment from law firms, accounting firms, or registered agent services for editorial decisions. Our monetization comes from:
- Display advertising via Google AdSense. Ads appear in dedicated slots and never affect calculator results.
- Affiliate referrals to formation services and registered agents we believe provide genuine value at fair prices. These relationships are disclosed and don't affect editorial content. We will explicitly identify the best DIY option (forming directly through your state) when it's cheaper than any service.
We will never recommend a specific attorney, CPA, or other licensed professional through affiliate relationships. Those decisions should be based on your specific situation and relationship fit, not on whether we receive a referral fee.
Who runs BizFormPro
BizFormPro is built by an independent team in Botswana with backgrounds in software engineering, small business operations, and US business compliance research. We are not US-licensed attorneys, CPAs, or registered agents. We are educators who built the tool we wished existed.
